Adiabatic cooling for
for supermarkets and stores

Marché central d'Adélaïde a adopté une solution de refroidissement adiabatique.

Maintain a comfortable temperature while drastically reducing your carbon footprint and energy costs? Find out how Adelaide Central Market met this challenge by opting for an adiabatic cooling solution. It's certainly the ideal solution for you!

The Central Market in Adelaide, Australia, is one of the city's most emblematic landmarks. It offers access to multicultural cuisine and a wide variety of fresh produce over an area of 8,000 m².

The market was faced with a major problem: the efficiency of the evaporative coolers (which operated with a different system to the one installed by Bioclimas) was insufficient, resulting in increased humidity and temperature in the building. These problems were of particular concern given the importance of fresh produce quality for the health of customers. A solution therefore had to be found to maintain the ambient temperature at around 22°C and relative humidity at 50%.

The proposed solution was to replace the old refrigeration systems with more efficient technology to preserve product freshness, customer comfort and health, while significantly reducing energy costs and environmental impact.

Seeley International's Climate Wizard, a high-performance cooling indirect adiabatic system that cools the air without adding humidity, was chosen to meet this challenge. This solution was particularly well suited to the high temperatures in the Adelaide region.

In addition to installing the system, the teams had to overcome challenges such as the building's geographical location and the limitations of the on-site power supply. But since installing Climate Wizard, the results have been remarkable:

  • The air temperature can be reduced by up to 20°C compared with the outside air in very hot weather,

  • The air is totally clean and healthy because it is 100% filtered,

  • Cooling performance is up to 3 times greater than that of a conventional cooling system.

The Adelaide Central Market is a perfect example of the importance of efficient refrigeration systems in maintaining product quality and customer health, while reducing environmental impact and saving money.

Whatever your sector of activity and your needs, there's always a cooling system to suit your project and possible building conditions. This case is a perfect example.
